Fasting is well known to help lose weight. Fasting can also increase metabolism, increase energy and enhance overall longevity. Recent studies show it may even reduce breast cancer. University of California, San Diego and the Women’s Healthy Eating and Living (WHEL) study showed that prolonged nighttime fasting reduced the risk of breast cancer, recurrence by 36%. Specifically fasting > 13 hours over night. After a 11.4 year follow up after the study, showed a 21% reduction in death rate related to breast cancer (also a 22% all cause death rate reduction). Fasting at night raises Growth Hormone and helps insulin sensitivity, i.e. lowers sugar. Sugar FEEDS ALL CANCER CELLS, so this should be no surprise. So starve off cancer and the pounds with fasting. Sleep and fasting does a body good.
