Bisphenol A, a well-known chemical in some plastics is very harmful. Now a “safer” replacement, Bisphenol S is showing to increase fat cell formation (as if in America we need any further assistance with making us fatter!). Bisphenol A is linked to infertility, hypertension and in animal studies, linked to cancer. Bisphenol S induces lipid or fat accumulation in human preadipocyte tissue.
“Bisphenal S is not harmless and I’m sure future studies will be coming soon on its health risks. The take home message here would be to avoid all plastics when possible and drink and cook out of glass, non-leaching ceramics, copper or stainless steel”- Dr. James Lewerenz.
